graphics tweaks and XP

On Win XP Pro, I have an older ATI Expert @Play. The ATI web site says
the most current drivers for this card are on the XP cd. Unfortunately,
this driver is pretty 'generic' and has no ability to tweak color, gama,
etc. My monitor with this card runs very dark - even setting the
contract and brightness to the max, games are hard to play since I can't
see some detail. Some time back I ran across a third party app that let
me teak graphic settings independently from the driver software. I don't
remember where I got it - it might have been on a cd with a game? Does
anyone know about this app, or something like it?
