I posted once before a while back on this and had no
luck. So I'm giving it a try again. I've tried everything
that I know of to try to make my computer boot faster. I
took a suggestion to try Microsofts BottVis and it didn't
help increase any speed. However I now know it takes 69.3
Seconds for Windows XP to boot. Most of this time period
would betaken up by the hard drive. Almost 43.9 seconds
are used by the hard drive. Is this normal? It seems
aweful slow compared to even some older computers even.
What could be slowing up the hard drive.I have only what
I need starting up. Plus I've tried booting with all
services and extras disabled in MSCONFIG. This boot time
is with a clean intsall of Windows and nothing else
installed. Also both drives where defragged. Would
updating my bios help in any way? I'm sick of this slow
boot time. Thanks.

If you have tried all of the MS knowledge based articles to speed up booting
and your boot process is still slow then the next thing I would try is to
move your swap file over to another partition if you have one just in case
the swap file is corrupted. Should that fail or you do not have another
partition then I recommend a repair install of Windows XP per this procedure
listed in this URL:
