Do you have another computer you can copy files over to?
What I do, is create a briefcase on my desktop computer,
share the desktop computer's briefcase folder and then
drag and drop files from the laptop to the shared
briefcase on the desktop. You can then back the
briefcase folder up to a cd-r.

I like that idea, I'm not sure how to do that. My other computer has a DVD
writer, but I don't think the computers are "networked" They seem to operate
alone, sharing a wireless modem. ???

Is there a way to post all files etc, to a restricted web site, then pick
them up on the other computer and copy to cD? Does anyone have any
experience with this?

If two computer share a wireless modem they are networked,
you just need to enable file sharing, etc. Use the
networking wizard in XP to set up the network.

I tried this, but the wizard strongly suggested not setting it up unless one
computer feeds to the modem through the other. Not sure why. Both mine
access the modem separately. (Either work when the other is off) Is the
wizard being overcautious?

Best to get a wireless router\ WAP (wireless access point).
Have the computers connect to the WAP/router either wired
and wireless as is convenient. Then the router is the
connection to the modem (cable or DSL).

I can't answer any more authoritatively because I have not
used a wireless system. I just know that it should be
possible. If you're running wireless be sure you use
adequate security. Set your laptop to search for nearby
WAPs that could read your radio waves.

Your router mfg'r should have a website with lots of
instructions and probably firmware updates for the router.
Be sure to check their site.
