Changing audio card from Soundblaster Live to onboard sound?

I've decided to disable my soundblaster live audio card and try my onboard
sound (Asus P4PE mb SoundMax audio). I was wondering can I just disable it
in xp device manager and leave the card in the slot in case I want to go
back to it?

Should I unistall creative software or is it neccesary?

You would need to 1) Remove the Live drivers for Device Manager and 2) Yank
out the card!

The Live! sound card is plug & play and Windows XP will always try to the
drivers.

BTW: I would continue using the Live! card since it does produce a better
sound than most on-board sound cards,
