I want to set the autoplay setting in my cd rom drive to:

pictures

I go into the properties and click on "auto play"
I set Pictures as the type of files for the auto play to
read.
I click "apply and OK ..

but when I go back in the Music name is still listed as
the type of files I want auto play to react too.

I would like to know if there might be something I can do
to get my pictures to be the main setting..

I don't think you understand what is happening. When you go>start\my computer and then right click on your CD Drive and then click properties\auto play tab you will always get the "music" showing as it is the first option. Now click the drop down list and
then choose a file type and then put a dot in "select an action to perform" and then choose and option from the list and click apply. Now open the drop down list again and then click a file type say movie and put the dot once again in "select an action to
perform" and then choose an action by highlighting it and then clicking apply. You must do this for each and every option available to you so that when it detects movies or pictures or data or audio or mixed and so on it will then do what you have marked f
or it to do. This isn't just a one setting does all option. You must choose each and every "Content" type and then "select an action to perform" or if you want you can set the option down the bottom to be prompted each and every time to "choose" what you w
ant to happen. Good luck.

Hello, Unknown..

I have a digital camera. It has a USB connection. when I plug this
camera's USB cord to my computer through a USB connection it gives my
system a new drive letter. G:
it calls it a removable drive. I can high light this drive's letter in
"my computer" or if I pull up the Explorer program.

I can hightlight this drive's letter and right click. I go to the
properties of it and I click on the "autoplay" tab. I go into the
program which you are talking about. It is set on music files.
I want it to reconize the picture files for when I hook up my camera
it will download the photos on the camera to my hard drive.

( I have a girl friend and a brother who have this same camera and
when they plug theirs in their removable drive's autoplay setting is
on the picture files and as soon as they plug their camera's in this
little menu pops up and asks them if they want to download the photos
from the cameras memory chip)

I have went into this program fifty times. I have clicked on music
files and dotted the little line that saids: " select an action to
perform"
I then select a function for it to do, when it see this type of file.

I then go to each of the others and do the same.
I select a type of file Picture, Mixed etc.. and I dot the little line
which said "select an action to perform" I select an action and I hit
the apply button and then the ok one. I have done this too all of the
types of files in there.

Each time I leave this program and go back in the music file name is
on top.. and it has never reconized my camera when I plug it in...

I do not understand what is making this stay with the music files as
the only autoplay function that works..

Thanks for the interest and attempts to help me. I am getting to think
something must be wrong with this. I have two large winXP manuals I
bought to attempt to learn this program and both of these books just
list what you have suggested.. To go in there and select the options..
I am thinking something must be set in the registery file.. but I am
not wise enough to figure how to deal with that..
