You can save the Event viewer data per event, click
properties,per event,use the tab,opens in notepad,
from notepad,save as,choose the location.As to the
printer, try installing the Parallel cable and using
that instead of usb,it might get it to operate, then
on a shutdown switch back to usb.If that doesnt work
you might consider a faulty printer,at least comunic-
ating to a computer,or its ability too.

>Hello and thanks in advance for your help. I have been in
>contact with Lexmark for nearly a week now over this
>issue, but can't make any headway with the techs there. I
>am posting here in hopes that someone might be able to
>see where my problem is. I am positive my problems lays
>in a windows configuration, but can't get them to expand
>their thoughts. I will be as brief as I can to include
>the info.
> After a power outtage that happened while my system
>was on ( All components are on a surge protector ), my
>Lexmark X83 and the computer aren't communicateing
>properly. My printer works perfectly from it's own
>control panel. It will scan, print, scan to file,
>everything. When I try and use the control panel on my
>computer screen, I can get it to do everything above
>EXCEPT print. It will scan to file, when I want a copy,
>it will scan the copy, but when it comes to print, it
>won't even accept a paper. If I reach over and manually
>press the scan button on the printer itself, it will scan
>and print the same document. In the print screen it will
>show that the printing has started, but the progress line
>never moves. Next thing is "printing" then changes
>to "deleteing" and then it says "printing complete".
> Here are the corrective measures we have taken.
>Powering down, both the computer and printer. Uninstalled
>and reinstalled and also reinstalled from their on line
>driver. I have ran their cleaning tool several times as
>well. I have bought a new printer cable, and the heavy
>duty one as well. I have uninstalled my LPT1 port and let
>windows reinstall it after rebooting. One Tech went into
>my regestry but couldn't find the listing he was looking
>for, and aborted that procedure. When I run the printer
>trouble shooter that XP provides, It tells me that there
>is a possable problem with my parallel port. One las clue
>here. When I pull up my error report from my XP, this
>report gets generated everytime I have tried to print
>from my screen's panel. I will quote. "The Genesys Logic
>USB Scanner Controller NT 5.0 service failed to start due
>to the following error: The service can not be started
>because either it is disabled or because it has no
>enabled devices associated with it." When I read the
>Lexmark techs this, it wasn't even considered.
> If anyone can give me some guidance here, I would be
>very appreciative. I am starting a week's vacation, and
>if possable, would appreciate a response via e mail. My
>addy is .
> Thank You Very Much,
