Got a problem booting up a pc with Win XP Home Ed.
Error message reads - hal.dll missing / corrupt. Can't boot up in safe mode either.
Trying to repair XP installation using Recovery Console - however I do not know the admin password when prompted.

Any ideas on how I can resolve this problem?

See "'The Password Is Not Valid' Error Message Appears When You Log On

In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP"
