I have a program that I want to run all the time.
The program is one that does research with the idle
cycles of my CPU. The exact one is the Fold@home
(http://folding.stanford.edu). I have downloaded the
command line version (but can use others if necessary)
becuse I don't need the frills of the others. I know how
to get them to run automatically when I log in. My
problem is that it puts an item in the taskbar (not the
notification area where the clock is). If I close this,
it closes the program.

My question is how do I start this program and not
get a taskbar item to display?

Thanks in advance,
Keith

Use this free tray utility:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Sector/2035/hideit.html

HideIt will allow you to completely hide programs from your desktop.
HideIt displays all currently running programs in its list box. Clicking
on any of these will immediately hide the program and then mark it as
hidden. To bring the program back, just click on it again and it will
reappear.

A convenient feature of HideIt is its tagging ability. You can click on
a program in the list while holding down the control key and HideIt will
"tag" the file by placing a plus sign in front of the programs' name.
Later when you want to hide this program, just press Control-t and all
tagged programs will be hidden.

Atually, this is the one I was thinking about:

http://expocenter.com/hideit/

The one above is shareware whereby this one is freeware.
