View Full Version : Cannot browse Admin Account

I noticed this problem when I was playing with my XP Pro over the weekend.

I have users account A, B & C setup as administrative accounts. When I use
window explorer to browse the 'profile' folder in %windir%, user 'A' can
browse everyone (ie default user, all user, 'B' and 'C'), user 'B' and 'C'
can browse everyone except 'A' which gives a popup saying 'access denied'.

What would possibility be the reason for this? A, B and C, after all, are
all given the same administrative status and I have no special settings
under Group policy.

This could be becase you chose the "Make this folder private" option for
Account A. Just because you're an administrator level user, doesn't mean
you have access rights to everything. However, an Administrator user can
add themselves, or the Administrator's group to the access list for any
file/folder on the computer.

How can I reset to default, ie, give all Administrators the same right?

Thanks.

AC, that is the default when using NTFS. Each user has the option to make at
least their own "My Documents" folder private. Have the user uncheck the box
next to "Make this folder private" in the Properties sheets. Or add yourself
as an "owner" to their folder. Search in "Help and Support" for information
on "ownership."
