View Full Version : windows xp won't shut down

When I go to restart or shut down, Windows give me a
message that says something like "log off of all
microsoft applications before shutting down." but I am
not running any apps. Even the task manager shows
nothing running. CNTRL ALT DEL brings up the task
manager, and when I try to shut down or restart from
there I get the same message.
What is the best way to handle this?

I checked that page before I posted. There is nothing
regarding this problem. Since posting, I realized that
there seemed to be a session of Outlook that was, for
lack of a better word, lingering, and appearing in the
taskbar occassionally and briefly -- like for a second.
I "caught" it, opened the task manager and this time the
app was there and I ended it.
Pretty strange.
Now everything seems fine.
