My recent problem with installing my Hp 895C printer with
Windows XP has but solved but the system keeps "finding"
new hardware. Each time I boot up, I'm informed that a
new HP895 printer has been found. It takes several steps
to clear the screen. How do I stop this "finding"?

Try uninstalling the printer and the hp software, driver. Then reinstall
the printer and let WinXP find and use its driver.

Let it continue on its way through its install. When it's finished, and you
have two printers in your Printers & Faxes setup in the Control Panel, right
click and delete both.
Reboot the PC. It should now find only a single instance.
