CDROM door status

I'm trying to have a led to indicate whether the cdrom door is open or not.
I'v read the source code of cdrom.sys and classpnp.sys, but i found that
there is no way to read the door status back.

Does anyone know how to do it in XP?

I do not think you can do this. The CD-Rom tray does not appear to have any
type of sensors which would provide this info.
