I think I know what causes ALL these errors in XP, but I/we
need help from Microsoft. This is where XP detects new
hardware, can't install it, and occurs at every boot. This
is not just the printer either. It started when I tried to
install an All-In-One R80 from HP. I experimented on
drivers and installed devices and now Windows remembers
everything I attempted a driver for and will now forever
try to install at boot. I had this problem with my the
Wizard trying to install a Printer. Now it is forever
trying to install an Infrared device that I Do Not Have!
Only because I tagged it once while installing New
Hardware. Please advise,... anyone!

Read and follow the instructions before you begin to
experiment.

Go into the device manager and delete all the devices and
support and let plug and play detect what is installed and
load the appropriate drivers. Delete USB printers and the
USB hubs, etc, etc.

When I installed a multi function printer on my brothers machine, the
hardware wizard had to be run through 5-6 times to install "ALL" of the
drivers! Just make certain you have the latest Windows XP drivers on a CD
and let the wizard search the CD each and every time it pops up.

When done this way, the install was successful and my brother has not seen
the wizard for over 6 months now!
