Hello, How do I remove items from the msconfig, startup pane? Is there a
text file which holds the information. There are some items located there
from some hardware that I removed from the computer and I would like to rid
of the entries.
thanks
bill

You would accomplish this by uninstalling any software and drivers for the
device. You might check Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and for
drivers, check Device Manager on the Hardware tab in the System applet in
Control Panel.

never mind I found the info in the registry under HKEY LOCAL
MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig

In addition:

The unchecked [disabled] items in MSCONFIG are moved here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg]

You may either delete the keys manually, or download a fix from Kelly's =

The only problem with doing it that way is that the source may still be on
your system. In essence, you are removing an entry without removing what
put the entry there.
