transferring files

I copied all my files from win 98 onto floppy disk, I
transfered my photo files with no problems but the text
files from microsoft works are scrambled when I put them
in word perfect Ive tried other programs to open them but
nothing works,

Try opening the files in WordPad.

Files need the program of origin or a more recent version to guarantee
proper opening, which is why the photos came through. That said, do you
still have access to the Works program ? If so, use "Save as..." in Works
word processor to save as the current or earlier version of your Word
Perfect and transfer these.
