Hi everyone,

Have a 'problem' with an internal 56k v92 modem...which
works fine!!!! The problem is no matter what i do, it
always connects at 31.2K. It used to connect at hoigh
speeds but has not done so for some time. I have the
latest driver installed. A previous modem used to
connect 99% at 45K+ and in use in another PC, still
does. I have used several so called Internet Connection
tweakers all to no avail. Anyone throw some light on
it ???

Modem is a TRUST 56K v92 PCI - (v.44 data compression)

many thanks

Make sure that your ISP is supporting the V.92 standard, some have not moved there and stayed with
the V.90/56K standard. I had a 92 modem and had to take it out because slower connection, put back
a 56K and speeds where back to normal.

Hello

Well it could be your phone line is where the issue is and not
your modem. It's possible that you have a lot of noise on your
phone line.

Has your phone company made any changes in your local loop?
Have you added any phone lines, phones or fax machines to the line?

You might try removing all your internal phone lines at the demark and use a
wire brush to clean the screws and the bare wires and reconnect.

Does it connect at a higher speed if you make a long distance connection?

www.808hi.com/56k may have some suggestions for you.
