Add/Remove

I recently tried to remove some software that I am not
using, and when I went to start>control panel>add/remove,
the remove buttons are no longer there for me to click
remove. How can I remove the software that I dont use
without those remove buttons? Furthermore, what did I do
that could have caused that to happen?

I had that happen with some programs off the net.
All I did was delete the directory and its icon on the desktop
Then I ran "RegCleaner" to remove it from the registry
