Bass Sound Is Distorted

This problem is Windows XP specific because in Windows 98
my bass doesn't become staticy if I raise it. I have a
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1, and whenever i increase the bass
or I play music with deep bass tones, the sound is very
distorted.

Make sure you are using the latest XP driver for the card. And also check
dxdiag for any directsound errors.
