View Full Version : Network dropout
Tim Brown
April 1st 04, 12:44 PM
We have a user who suffers from intermittent network dropout. These are
some of the things we have tried to resolve the issue:
The IP stack was checked on the PC - OK
The NIC was checked on the PC - OK
The OS was repaired
Another network wall socket was connected to the PC
The drop cable was changed
The patch cable was changed
Patched into a different hub
Renewed the users profile
The PC was swapped for a another one
The user has a mixture of DFS and UNC drive mappings
It has been noticed that when the network drop out happens the user can
still access the UNC drives but not the DFS drives.
Increased the autodisconnect in the Server service on the PC but still
dropping out.
This is only affecting this one user and nobody else.
I have attached the System event log and the Application event log

Hello Tim,
Thank you for posting here.
To troubleshoot this issue, could you please provide me with more
information?
1. If you use this user to logon other computers, does the same issue occur?
2. Disable all the firewall and Anti-virus software.
3. Do you use Domain DFS or stand-alone DFS?
Additional information:
Domain DFS network path goes offline after you open Windows Explorer or My
Computer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;834674
I hope the information proves helpful!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to let me know. I am glad
to be of assistance.
Thanks and regards,
Alex Zhang

|
|
|
|
|

Thanks and regards,
Alex Zhang
