can't get on internet

I have optomonline and had no problems. Now I cannot get
on internet. Optomonline checked connection and cable
modem and said is OS issue. This is the message I now get:
"An error occured while renewing interface local area
connection 2: An operation was attempted on something that
is not a socket"
Any help is most appreciated.
