cd-rom / cd-rw

neither my cd-rom nor my cd-rw drive are working now.
one day they worked, the next day they didn't. i have
tried uninstalling them, both in the system and
physically, with no luck. i tried installing an old cd-
rw and that didn't work. the drivers install, and it
recognizes the drives, but it says it can't locate them.

Please Help!!!!!!!
