First of all I think I would get some spyware checking utilities!
www.lavasoftusa.com might be the place to start.
Secondly, Word is absolutely nothing to do with Windows - XP or any other
version. It is a completely separate program, and has its own newsgroups.
It has NEVER come included in ANY version... if your vendor chose to include
it with your PC, then you paid for it and will have a CD to go with it.
Try
microsoft.public.word.newusers
You might also want to try a repair installation of Word... from the
Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. You'll need to have your Word CD
handy.

Close Word. Rename the document template file, normal.dot, to normal.old.
You may have to set Folder Options> View to show hidden files and folders to
find this file. It should be located in Documents and Settings\<your
account>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. Open Word to see if it brings
up a non-talking template.
Also, update your antivirus program and check for macro-viruses. And...if
you have Office XP, check that you have "speech-to-text" turned off and/or
your microphone muted. This tool has caught a lot of folks off guard. It
will pick up *everything* (background radio or tv) and try to turn it into
text. Many reports of "ghost typing" in these newsgroups because of this.
It's possible that someone tried out your Office XP, got frustrated with it
and then the program picked up the comment and added to your document
template.
