Are both these the same version of XP? You will do better
to just install XP once and set up user accounts with
different applications and permissions.

| Hi
|
| I would like to install two separate XP's, (not xp and a
older OS) on the same harddrive with dual boot.
| [One for heavy applications, the other just surfing and
leisure].
|
| I used partition magic to create two fat32 primary
partitions and one logical ntfs data partition.
|
| The first Install went ofcourse fine. When tried The
second XP Setup, It said XP could not be installed on that
partition.
| After converting to fat, the setup went fine, but it
messed up the first Install.
| I reinstalled all over, but now I'm afraid to setup the
second XP without ruin the first one.
|
| 1) what are the pre-conditions for that configuartion to
work properly ?
|
| thanks

Why do that? XP is a great operating system and is certainly capable of
handling unrelated tasks with ease. Just keep the tasks separated, perhaps
even in different partitions.

unfortuanly, it's more than a "few" seconds.
In addition switching between processes & work in general is much slower.

You need separate installations one to each of the two Primary
partitions (it does not matter whether they are FAT or NTFS) and a
separate Boot manager to choose which - and to hide them from each
other. For that use the Boot Magic program that came with your
Partition Magic
