when i am playing any mp3's and i open any program even windows explorer,
the sound jitters or hesitates - why does this happen - i have
upgraded to direct x 9 and have all the latest drivers, any idea what could
be causing this , it isnt the mp3 file as i can rewind to the same area that
skipped and it plays ok

my system is as follows
Windows XP Pro
Athlon 2000 cpu
gigabyte mainboard GA-7VAXP Based on the VIA KT400/8235 chipset
256M ddr400
80 gig hdd, 7200rpm
gforce2 MX400 64M

i have upgraded 4in1 drivers and also upgraded audio drivers done a full
defrag, Nothing seems to work

i have even tried standing on my desk with my right foot on my left knee
and a funny hat on - that didnt work either (sorry, a bit of silly humour)
also tried an old 16 bit sound pci sound card - and disabled the
onboard sound still the same

i have installed a clean install of XP - same problems
i have also installed windows 98 on my system and the sound is fine -- this
seems to be anXP related problem

Any help would be great
Thanks in advance

Which sound card do you have? (Not mentioned above)
Is it onboard or on a card? If on a card, try moving it to a different
slot!

TRY LOOKING AT THE WEB SITE:

TWEAKXP.COM

HELPS IN XP PROBLEMS, I HAVE USED A NUMBER OF THINGS FROM THAT SITE, IT HAS
REALLY HELPED ME. I RUN PRO ALSO, HAD TO GET RID OF A REGISTRY AREA BECAUSE
MICRO (SUCKS) WATS EVERYONE TO USE MPEG, AVI'S ARE CHOPPY!
