View Full Version : F-lock on the Microsoft Office Keyboard

I was wondering if there is a way of making the f-lock on
the Microsoft Office Keyboard turn on at startup. When F-
lock is off, all the F keys do other commands instead.
Most of the time, I want them to operate normally. I have
a reminder appear at startup to remind me to turn it on.
However I (and my friends) would be grateful if it would
turn on automatically.
Thanks.

There is no way to programmatically control the state of the FLock key.
However, depending on your OS, you can reprogram the keys that F Lock
affects so that it appears that the F Lock state is flipped.

No there isn't. At least, not with the supplied software, and I can't
honestly be bothered to see if there's a registry hack for it. That is the
most annoying 'feeture' of these keyboards. I have to remember to hit
F-lock each time it comes back from hibernation.

It was a stupid design decision to make the mechanical
default turn off standard function keys. For instance, if
you want to access the BIOS, you must press two keys in
quick succession immediately on turning the power on.
But once you know that, it becomes less of a problem...but
the first few weeks I had this keyboard it was very
frustrating try to get into the BIOS.
