CD burning requires a lot of computer power, several things
could be wrong. Are you using the built in XP burning
software or a third party such as Nero or EZCD?
Are you doing other things with the computer when trying to
burn?
What kind of drive and what speed does it say it can do?
How much RAM do you have?
What kind of files are you burning?
Have you read and understood the instructions that came with
your burner or software?

Your specs 512 RAM, CPU 2 GHz, are just fine, but what make/
model of burner, what software, how are you using it, what
other tasks are running while you burn, what kind of CD
media (disks) are you using ca all effect the output...
There are several methods of CD burning, drag and drop to
CD-RW, track at once, disk at once...
Create a folder on your hard drive, copy all the files you
want to burn into that folder, say 400-600 MB, then burn
that folder with every other program off, turn your browser
odd, no email, pause the background anti-virus, turn
messenger off, disconnect from the Internet, then see if it
burns OK...All that shouldn't be needed if you have a modern
burner with buffer under run protection.
The burner has a buffer which holds 2 or maybe even 4-8 MB
of data waiting to burn. The computer sends data to the
burner. If the burner is running fast and something,
anything slows the CPU down, like logging on to check email
on a schedule, the burner can run out of data to burn.
Buffer under-run sees the flow of data and slows the speed
of burning down to keep the buffer from becoming empty. But
it isn't a guarantee that it won't happen. CD burning is a
continuous process, once started it must finish.
Check out some articles on burning by doing a Google search
or looking at PCWorld and Computer Shopper, there should be
a lot of information to help you.

Maybe you should also enable a spellchecker. That has to be the most poorly
spelt post I have ever had the misfortune to try to decipher.

Using the native burner software, each time you burn, you have to set
the burner speed to 1x or 2x instead of 4x or whatever the fastest speed
is. Try 2x and 1x until you find the fastest speed that doesn't create
coasters.
