View Full Version : Removing Unused Programs

Hi all,
I just recently upgraded to WinXP Pro.
2 questions for you.
1. I have several old programs (MS Works, etc.),
which I no longer need on the machine. I do not see
these listed anymore in the Control Panel /
Add - Remove programs list.
I know you can't just blow away the
folders to remove the whole program
from the system.
2. And with the few programs
that I do have on the machine, I don't
see how I can be using 17 gig out of a 20 gig
HD. No games except what came with Windows,
no animations, no pictures, no videos.
What's the best way to clean up the HD?
I shouldn't have that much "stuff".
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
1. Check the program folder itself for an uninstaller file, usually =
something like unwise.exe
2. Check the size allocated to Temporary Internet Files and System =
Restore. Check the minimum size allocated to pagefile.sys (if you have =
lots of ram, then the build likely set up a large default minimum).
