Hi there,
after copying my XP installation to a external HD with Norton Ghost 2003,
changing HD and booting I can not log on.
The logon fails with an error (something like wrong Activation key error)
and goes back to the logon screen.
How do I fix this?
Thanx, Peter

Peter,
I discovered this problem with Ghost as well. Turns out you have to
clone the WHOLE disk on which XP resides, not just the boot partition. If
you're stuck now, the only recourse is to do a repair install by booting
into the XP CD and then running all the updates (with the exception of
Q811493, which has been a real pain in the neck for a lot of people).

Hi David,
I actually cloned the whole disk. After that I tried a repair which is not
working (after rebooting the machine hangs).
Are there any "switches" in Ghost that I am missing?

After cloning to a new drive, I got the error message "Windows Product
Activation. A problem is preventing windows fro accurately checking the
license for this computer. Error code 0x80090006."
I put in a phone call to MS Tech support and got the following response
from David:
"We do not support disk cloning. Try a repair install."

This is really odd. I recently cloned my drive (even did it from a larger
drive to a smaller drive) and had no issues. This is under the "Advanced"
tab in Ghost. The only problem I had in the past was in making back-ups of
the disk or the partition and then attempting to restore the back-up.
