Is it possible to move Windows XP from one hard drive to
another newer one? I have old hard drive and want to
ditch it for a newer faster one, but I don't want to
reinstall every single thing on my computer. I know you
can move certain setting from one comp to the next..but
windows XP is so fussy about it's product key, and will
want me to call again to reinstall it! (tends to be very
annoying for someone that upgrades a lot) :S

Hi,
But I just read below, that XP will then state an improper
product key is installed and won't boot...requiring one to
reinstall windows again. Or would I just use the 'repair'
option? I just don't want to loose all my installed
software...took me 2 days to reinstall everything last
time I had to wipe my Hard Drive

swapping a hdd should not be enough of a change to require you to reactivate
windows. i have done this and did not have to reactivate. changing of
hardware such as cpu, network adapter, motherboard will require
reactivation, but changing components such as your hdd or video card should
not.
