I have a USB 2.0 Storage Box with a Western Digital
7200rpm 30Gig hardrive. When I plug it in I get an Error
(Hi-Speed USB Device Plugged into non-High-Speed USB HUB)
and sure enough transfer speeds are SLOW to say the least.
MotherBoard is a ChainTech Apogee 7VJL with USB 2.0
Device Manager shows under Universal Serial Bus
Controllers - USB 2.0 Root Hub, USB Mass Storage Device,
3x USB Root Hub, 3x VIA Rev 5 or Later USB Universal Host
Controller, and VIA USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller.
I got the Storage box a month ago and it worked good then,
but now it doesn't...any ideas?

Are you using the one of the two front USB ports on the C-media box?
I have the same board and I could not use my USB 2.0 external drive
with either of the two front USB ports. When connected to any of the
four rear ports it works fine. Those front ports are supposed to be
USB 2.0 but I'll be darned if I could get them to work as such. BTW,
do you have XP SP1 installed? If so, you no longer need the VIA
enhanced USB drivers as SP1 supports USB 2 and has native drivers.

I have the EXACT same problem with a very similar setup
using a MSI KT3-Ultra2 MoBo. I have the exact same
settings in the BIOS, and I have the exact same proble
with the FRONT USB ports. In fact, that's why I'm here
today, to ask if anyone can help with this. I do have Sp1
installed, but no matter how many times I delete and let
Windows re-install the drivers, it keeps installing the
VIA drivers. Also it won't re-install the VIA USB 2.0
enhanced controller properly, It keeps saying there is
something missing or it may be for a Windows 95 OS (or
something like that).
Help.
