I had windows xp installed on my computer. I is the
upgrade version from windows98. I have recently upgraded
and installed a new motherboard and new processor. Now I
can no longer boot up windows xp. What do I need to do to
boot it back up?

Since you changed motherboards you have a different chipset which window xp
does not recognize. Try a repair but there is no guarantee that it will
work.
The option I have used before it to make a backup on a different partition
before moving the hard drive over. Move the hard drive over and then make a
clean install of XP over the old one. Then restore the backup. The backup
does not change the chipset when restoring.

Greetings --

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll need to perform a
repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the very least:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP

This may also require re-activation. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
