Windows Install Shield

This problem occured after i downloaded a critical update.
When I boot up my laptop I get the error
message."Installshield Engine(ikernal.exe)could not be
installed. The system cannot find the the file specified."
I can click OK and carry on using the Laptop and the only
problem I have found is that it will not let me go to a
previous restore point. (problems will come later when i
want to install a program).
I have checked in C:\i386 and the three files
Stdole32.tlb - Stdole2.tlb - Stdole.tlb are still on my
system. My laptop did not come with an XP disc, only a
recovery disc. I would appreciate some help

InstallShield does not belong to Windows so it is very likely that
this problem is not caused by a Windows Update which you installed
from the Microsoft site.
First find out what is causing the message. See "How to Troubleshoot
By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP"
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310560). For further help with
InstallShield you may want to visit www.installshield.com.
