View Full Version : UPnP router set-up

Hey folks,

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 router that is UPnP-enabled. I use a laptop
with Orinoco Gold wi-fi card and the "Internet Gateway" icon with its
associated settings is plainly visible in my network connections window.
However, this icon is NOT visible in my desktop's network connections
window. This latter PC has a wired connection to the router, also has the
appropriate networking services installed (i.e. "Internet Gateway Device
Discovery and Control Client" and "Universal Plug and Play"), but differs in
having a static IP with a few ports forwarded to it in the router's set-up
pages, and an incoming VPN connection. SSDP and UPnP services are running in
the background, just as they are for my laptop. Another anomaly is under the
"Advanced" tab of the Local Area Connection Properties boxes for these two
connections. My desktop only shows the settings for ICF, but the box for my
laptop shows both ICF and ICS settings. Hopefully this is clue enough for
someone out there to give me a hand.

Dave
