I just got a Radeon 9000 pro II 128 MB and put it in my
computer running windows xp. It went through the os
manager and then showed the windows boot screen but when
xp starts booting up my screen goes black with fuzzy
lines going across the screen. I've uninstalled my
previous card and that didn't fix the problem. I have a
pentium 4, 384MB RAM, Dell Dimension 8100. My old Nvidia
will still work. Does anyone have any clue whats going
on? Thanks

Try booting into safe mode and see if it works from there. If it does, go
into device manager and change the adapter driver to standard vga. Try to
reboot and if it makes it to windows try to install the latest drivers for
it.

You not only have to uninstall the old vid card but also its drivers.
You might have to use an Nvidia uninstall exe to get rid of all of them
Then shut down and install the 9000
Upon reboot XP should load the generic Radeon XP drivers.
Then load the Radeon Catalyst drivers from your CD
This worked for me upon installation of 8500
