does anyone know how why i would be getting a sysreg.exe
error as my windows opens or sometimes when i open
internet explorer? any help would be greatly appreciated

A rather old backdoor Trojan. See:

Actually, these days finding sysreg.exe on your system likely means
you have Spyware. It appears to get loaded by a new version of the
BTLink variant of Huntbar which started showing up around 5/20/03.
Sysreg.exe is not yet detected by SpyBot (not sure about Ad-Aware 6),
but Norton Anti-Virus will pick it up:

Symantec's removal instructions will do the trick, but do not mention
a number registry keys which should be deleted. A co-worker of mine is
working on more thorough removal instructions. I will post them soon.
