View Full Version : Files and Settings Transfer

I have a new computer with XP installed. I attempted to
move 'files and settings' from my old computer (Windows
Me) using the 'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard' and
get the following error message:

An error has occurred.

FILE NAME: WSOCK(01) + 00001922 ERROR: 0E: 0028: DC662EB2

Any advice on how to overcome this? It is repeatable --
everytime the wizard starts, the same message appears on
a blue screen. Restarting has not solved the problem.

Thanks in advance --

Hello Rick --

I am using the Windows XP Pro cd to create a "Files and
Settings" cd on my old computer that I can move to my new
computer. I am not using a direct cable, nor do I have a
network.

Hi Walt,

Well, the error message indicates that the wizard is looking for a =
connection. I am at a bit of a loss as to why it would do that as long =
as you are indicating the you want to create a file. Are you choosing =
"floppy or other media" or "other"? You should choose the former.
