Windows Must Now Restart Error

I keep getting an error message saying, Windows must now restart because the
Remote Procedure Call service terminated unexpectedly.

What is causing this error and how can I fix it?

Greetings,

It sounds like the computer is being hit with an RPC exploit. To correct, install this
patch:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.mspx

If this happens again (say while you're downloading the patch), click Start, then Run, then
type "cmd" and click OK. Then on the command line, type:
shutdown -a

This will abort the shutdown and allow you to install the patch.

You can then remove any worm that causes this that may have infected your PC using this tool:
