i have windows xp home and i have the same problem but i
don't see any blue screen it just reboots. i have tried
all the options on the boot menu they are all the same. I
tried to repair it using the windows disk but it displays
a blue screen just before it gets to the menu in which you
can select repair. It is quite puzzeling what is the
matter with it but i think it may be a virus as it started
happening on the 1st may. I have been on the phone to
microsoft for a couple of hours trying to sort it out and
all i got was "Please hold the line" and some fancy music.
They said they would phone me back yesterday but they
didn't. This leaves me to beleive that microsoft don't
know what it is a bout either. Please can anybody help!

Greetings --
To get started troubleshooting the cause of your problems, we'll
need to learn what specific errors are occurring and being recorded.
To get the error message from the blue screen (a.k.a. the BSOD --
Blue Screen of Death), you'll need to turn off WinXP's automatic
reboot "feature:" Right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced >
Startup and Recovery > Uncheck "Automatically restart." The next time
your PC crashes, you'll be left with a blue screen full of memory
addresses and other seeming gibberish. The top 2 or 3 lines of this
screen will contain information that can help solve your problem.
Carefully write down these lines and post the exact text back here.
Hopefully, one of us will be able to provide some insight.
Additionally, you should check your Event Logs to see if they can
shed any light on the matter, To do so, Right-click My Computer >
Manage > Event Viewer > System and Application. Record the specifics
of any red-flagged error messages and post the exact text back here.
Again, hopefully, one of us will be able to provide some insight.

Cheers for that but:-
The blue screen of death doesn't appear and there are no
error messages. The system reboots before the system has
completed the initial boot. No desktop appears, and any
atempt to interupt the sequence doesn't work.
Event logs are not available. The only way to boot the
system is using the installation disk in the CD, and
recovery console.

Greetings --
Can you boot into Safe Mode to check the error logs? Have you
attempted to use the Recovery Console to repair the installation?
