View Full Version : Windows-Delayed Write Failed

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition.
A few days ago I started getting a notice box pop-up
stating the following:
"Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
C:\Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused
by a failure of your computer hardware or network
connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."

CHKDSK runs on reboot but reports nothing wrong. I have
run CHKDSK manually also. The computer seems to be
operating just fine. Nothing amiss that I can detect. This
pop-up runs continually every few seconds and is very
annoying (which is what it is supposed to do I realize).

My question is........just what does this mean and should
I do something, and if so, what? If this is a false
positive, how do I get rid of it? Any info. would surely
be appreciated.

Nat

What hardware are you using? It'll help narrow down what might be causing
the problem.
Although.... I have seen reports of this error occuring because of problem
with a SCSI controller. If that's your set-up try re-seating the SCSI card
and checking cabling. After that, the only suggestion I would have is try a
different SCSI card.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.. there may be others with more
experience with your hardware (don't forget to specify what that is).

Hope it helps anyway
Pete
