I have an IBM Thinkpad T30 running XP Pro. When I use the notebook at my
desk I have it hooked up to a Microsoft IntelliPoint mouse, the rest of the
time I use the built in TrackPoint.
The problem is that thw two pointing devices have separate drivers that do
not seem to coexist. If I install the IntelliPoint software it tells me it
has to uninstall the TrackPoint software and vice versa. Unfortunately they
both have specific features I really like. With the TrackPoint it has
support for the middle button that allows it to act like a wheel. With the
IntelliPoint it has control over how many lines of text a wheel movement
skips.
I've tried using Hardware Profiles in XP but they do not seem to let me
disable the respective pointing devices. There has to be a solution to
this. It must be a problem a ton of people have.
What am I missing?
