USB Software

I have a problem with USB software. The drivers load and
function ok when initially installed, but when the
computer is switched off and then on again at a later
date the driver information is retained in the program
files, but the system does not recognise the fact.

I try to update the driver in system hardware but i get a
message that the current driver is the most up to date
even though it does not appear to recognise it.

Any Ideas?
