View Full Version : Intellitype Pro don't work for Natural Multimedia Keyword

I just bought a Microsoft Natural Multimedia keyboard (only comes with
PS/2 interface) and connected it to my laptop which only has USB ports
by using a PS/2 to USB convertor. The keyboard works fine, except that
all the top row hotkeys do not work (i.e. hot keys for My Documents,
My Pictures, My Music etc), even though the Intellitype Pro software
is running (version 2.2).

Could this problem be caused by my using of the PS/2 to USB convertor?
Right now I do not have access to a computer with a PS/2 port, so I
cannot check whether it could be the keyboard's fault. The OS I am
using is Windows XP.

The Natural Multimedia keyboard was not designed to work with that adaptor.
I would not be surprised if it was the adaptor.

When you get the chance, I'd check the keyboard on a computer with a PS/2
port with the mskey.exe file that is included in Intellitype 2.21.

Hi,
You are right. I ran mskey.exe and it showed that the top two rows
of keys (i.e. including the function keys) could not be detected.

BTW, the Natural Multimedia keyboard does not come in a USB version,
right? So if I want to use a wired Natural keyboard with USB
interface, I have to fall back to the older non-multimedia models. But
they are hard to find in stores now. The last time I check at BestBuy,
they are only available in packs of five.

thanks,
Daniel

It only comes in a PS/2 plug format.

It sounds like the keyboard is defective. You should bring your keyboard
back to the store for an exchange.
