I made a repair install of XP but it did not change
anything. I also followed the suggestion to remove the
telephony card value in the registery but it did not help.
I recently installed an update of the Palm software for a
Zire 71. If this causes the problem, how can I resolve it
wihout loosing Palm functionality? Has anyone experience
with this problem? see also Randee he has the same problem.

This same thing happened to me *after* I did a repair install. Eventually
realised that the repair install had taken me back to the base XP OS without
any of the service packs. Installing SP1a fixed the problem - the dial up
connection option came available again.

Hi,
I downloaded XP servicepack 1A on another computer and
then loaded it into the one that does not allow internet
setup. I used a memory stick for that. However when trying
to install, the program sp1A it asked for an internet
connection which is impossible to make. Would you have an
idea how to install sp1A without internet connection?
Thanks,
Angelika.

How do I SP1 if I have no connection to the internet?
Also, the reason I had to do the repair was because after
the SP1 install the computer would just black screen with
the mouse pointer on screen. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
John
