What version do you now have,try going to start,run,
type:DXDIAG then press run button.If direct x doesnt
already show v9,try downloading from microsoft.com,
another version of direct x for xp.Then go to ADM.,
services,scroll down to windows installer,start service
then try to install directx for xp.Windows update will
offer v9 for you also,if not installed.
