I want the CD I just burnt to be usable by computers
without a CD-RW. Last I checked, the CD has to be closed
for this to happen... well WinXP's CD-burning software
doesn't close a CD? If so, I can't find out how.

It is not necessary to close the entire CD for it to be readable in a CD
rom drive on a different version of windows. Only that the 'session' of
burning has been closed, which is what the inbuilt burning does. You
are I think confusing with the way in which 'packet written CD-RW' have
to be finalised to be in a pseudo ISO format for them to be used
elsewhere; this applies to CD-RW made by Direct CD or InCD. The inbuilt
burning does not work in that way.
