HELP i cant get my mic to work

i cant get my microphone to work can anyone help me

If you have a sound card, plug the mic into the red jack on the sound
card. If you don't have a sound card, plug the mic into the red jack
near the keyboard and mouse ports.

You may have to select the microphone in the audio properties under
recording. Right-click the speaker in the tray next to the clock and
select "audio properties" or open the Sounds control panel to the Audio
tab. Click the volume button under the Sound Recording device and set
the level and select the mic.
