Repair System 32 Folder

Somehow, through my tinkering around, I damaged the
System32 Folder, i.e., everytime I bootup, the System32
folder pops up and I have to close it. The system also
seems sluggish.

Wondering if there's a way to repair XP without losing
all my pointers.
