When I installed Windows XP Home version, both CD ROMs
quit working. I can with some programs get the second CD
player to work, but the CD player that burns CDs no
longer works. Is there a patch for Windows XP that can
restore my CD player/burner? I have tried to do an
application recovery with the disk that came with the
computer (HP Pavilion), but the CD player can't read the
CD.

Brad,
Check for updated firmware for your CD drives from the drive
manufacturer(s).
After upgrading from 98-SE to XP-HE my Mitsumi CR-RW would not read certain
disks. I downloaded a firmware update from their website, and it solved the
problem.
