We have this but it refuses to install on
1. Windows 2003 server
2. Compaq Tablet XP
3. Windows XP laptop
The first it says there are no drivers for 2003 - are
they going to be available soon?
The second and third it asks that we have an existing
keyboard and mouse attached and then stops when we say
OK - the laptop obviously has keyboard and mouse attached.
Is there a fix to get this working with these machines?

PCMag has this to say:

The Bluetooth access point (or transceiver) plugs into a USB adapter, so
you can connect it directly to your laptop when you're on the go or into
a base station with an included USB cable that's almost 5 feet long. The
connection to the base station is quite snug, which we consider a minor
design glitch: You can push the transceiver into the base far enough
that it gets power, and a little blue light comes on prematurely,
indicating that it has made a connection, but the connection is not good
enough to communicate successfully. To get the computer to recognize the
keyboard and mouse, you must push the transceiver all the way into the
base station, even though it may have felt fully inserted already.

Thanks for the suggestion - but we get a decent blue
light on each machine with the USB bluetooth unit - it is
the software that refuses to install on each machine.
It is either complaining about Server 2003 (I just need
to know if it will be available at some point for this)
and more annoyingly the Tablet and Laptop (which is
running XP which it is supposed to run under)

Mike,
You might need to contact the manufacturer to see when/if they will have a
2003 patch. Have you verified that it is working properly as setup by
default from the vendor?

The manufacturer is Microsoft - I tried the support
options but gave up.
I can't verify it works on any of our machine - the
bluetooth light comes on the device but I cannot install
any of the software. I eventually installed it on one of
the childrens PCs and it worked fine - so the hardware
works - I just cannotinstall the software on the tablet,
XP Dell laptop or the Windows 2003 server.
Thanks

Mike,
Some articles that relate to your issue.
811805 Mouse and Keyboard Are Not Detected When You Install Wireless Optical
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=811805
"When you install the Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth, the mouse and
keyboard may not be detected. You may receive the following error message:
Could not discover a Bluetooth device. Make sure it is turned on and
that you have followed the manufacturer's documentation."
330358 Bluetooth Desktop: "Keyboard Error or No Keyboard Present" Error
Message
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=330358
" During the installation of the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop for
Bluetooth, you may receive an error message similar to the following when
you try to restart your computer:
Keyboard Error or No Keyboard Present
Press F1 to continue, DEL to enter
setup
The computer does not restart as expected. "
Looking around I don't currenly see any mention of support in 2003 at this
time.
