cdrom problems

I have lost the cdrom drive completely in XP. No longer
shows up as a drive. I have deleted and reinstalled the
drivers to no avail. I understand there is another driver
or file that is corrupted but I don't know which one. Also
heard that this is not a rare occurence. I know the drive
is good as it runs fine under windows 2000. Thanks in
advance for any assistance.]
